About us
Together through grief.
How we began
Mothers Coming Together was born from something none of us would ever have chosen — the heartbreaking loss of our children.
Behind our group are mothers, children, stories and an unbreakable love that continues long after a child is gone.
For me, it is my beautiful son Shane, who passed away in August 2024 at just 30 years old. Losing Shane changed my life forever and introduced me to a world of grief I never knew existed.
Along this journey, I formed a special bond with Nez, whose beautiful daughter Alisha passed away on 16 September 2023, and Trudy, whose beautiful daughter Holly passed away on 17 August 2025.
At the heart of our beginning
Three lives that will forever be remembered.
Catherine’s son
Nez’s daughter
Trudy’s daughter
Shane. Alisha. Holly.
A place to come as you are
We wanted to create a safe and welcoming community where mothers can simply come as they are. A place where there is no expectation to “move on”, no judgement about how we grieve and no timeline for when we should be okay.
Here, our children can be spoken about.
Their names can be said.
Their photographs can be shared.
Their birthdays and special dates can be remembered.
We can cry together, laugh together, talk about the difficult days and also find moments of friendship, creativity and connection.
How we come together
Mothers Coming Together provides support gatherings, coffee catch-ups, remembrance activities, creative workshops, special events and opportunities for mothers to connect with others who understand this unimaginable journey.
What matters most
Although Mothers Coming Together began through the friendship of three bereaved mothers and the love we carry for Shane, Alisha and Holly, it belongs to every mother who walks through our doors.
Every child has a story.
Every child has a name.
Every child is loved beyond words.
And every mother deserves somewhere she feels understood.
We cannot change what has happened to us, but we can make sure none of us has to walk this journey completely alone.
